Chandler Lawson is an Associate located in the firm's Chattanooga office. Before joining the Firm, she received her J.D. with a concentration in advocacy from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2016. At Tennessee, she served as a member of the Student Bar Association, Law Women, and UT Law Ambassadors. During law school, she had the opportunity to intern as a summer clerk with the Firm, focusing on Education/Special Education Law. Chandler also participated in the Education Law Practicum during her time in law school where she advocated for students and developed policy for and worked in conjunction with the Tennessee Department of Education. Chandler’s practice focuses primarily on civil litigation in several areas including general liability, education law (including special education), family law, and workers’ compensation.
Before attending law school, Chandler graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2012 with a B.S. in Political Science. She served on the executive committee for the University Honors Program (Brock Scholars) and for the Chi Omega Fraternity. Chandler also served as a student senator and academic affairs chairwoman for the Student Government Association. Further, she participated in the 2010 Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature as a representative for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
In 2012, Chandler was selected to serve as Miss Tennessee. Throughout that year, she was Governor Haslam’s Official Spokesperson for Character Education, and she traveled more than 70,000 miles across the state to speak to over 55,000 students about the character trait of caring. As the founder of the 501(c)(3) program, “5 Loaves 4 Kids,” a backpack weekend feeding program for students, Chandler was able to promote her program statewide and raise money and awareness for childhood hunger. She was awarded 2nd runner up for the “Quality of Life” community service award at Miss America. During her year as Miss Tennessee, Chandler also served as Tennessee’s Ambassador for the Children’s Miracle Network. She traveled to all five of Tennessee’s CMN hospitals and participated in, and coordinated fundraising efforts and events. Chandler finished as a Top 10 finalist at the Miss America Pageant on ABC.
