Meredith Weaver is Of Counsel in the Knoxville office.  Originally from Springfield, Tennessee, she graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Communication from Auburn University in 2001. While in school, Ms. Weaver was active in her sorority and on the newspaper and yearbook staff at Auburn.  Ms. Weaver  went on to obtain her law degree from University of Tennessee, cum laude, in 2004.    In law school, she was active in Speaker Series, the Student Bar Association, Law Women, and several other organizations.  She began working at Leitner, Williams, Dooley and Napolitan upon graduation from law school, and has since been active in the community through various organizations, including the Knoxville Bar Association, Junior League, Bearden Elementary PTO and her church, Church Street United Methodist Church, where she is on the Pre-School Board. 

In the past ten years at LWDN, Ms. Weaver’s  practice has been focused in workers’ compensation defense, general liability defense and domestic law.  She has tried cases across East and Middle Tennessee, and she also has an extensive motion practice.   She has handled numerous appeals involving several different issues, and has a large amount of experience defending occupational disease claims with unique statute of limitations and causation issues.  Since the Tennessee Workers’ Compensation law has changed to become administratively handled, Ms. Weaver has handled numerous claims at the Tennessee Department of  Labor.  Ms. Weaver’s thriving domestic practice includes family law matters such as divorce (agreed and contested), legal separation, post-divorce child custody issues, and agreed adoptions, primarily in Knox County and surrounding counties.

Representative Client Work

Ms. Weaver’s general insurance defense work includes representation of clients such as UCOR URS/CH2M Oak Ridge, LLC, AIG, Nyrstar-Tennessee Mines, Zurich American Insurance, and Sodexo USA, among others. 

She has served as lead counsel in numerous civil trials in various counties in East and Middle Tennessee, and has also assisted in several successful appeals.  She also has an extensive motion practice, and has been able to successfully resolve several catastrophic cases prior to trial through the use of dispositive motions, mediation and informal negotiations.  She has experience with mandatory arbitration as well.
